Welcome

Through volunteering as a teenager and young adult, I learned of my passion for education. As I tutored children and watched them learn to read and master new concepts, I became excited about the idea of becoming a teacher. I was recently out of college and was no longer planning on pursuing the career path I had studied for. I enrolled in a teacher certification program that fall, and was thankful to learn many techniques that made me a better educator.

However, as I continued on in my coursework, I became more aware that much of the work required of teachers in traditional school settings does not directly deal with education. I also became aware that teaching thirty or more students at the same time is not ideal. During my time in the teacher certification program, I began tutoring both children and adults in many subjects. I learned that as I tutor, I could instantly adapt the instruction to my student, and the student made progress so much more quickly than would have been possible in a traditional school setting.

After completing my teacher certification program, I continued on as a private tutor. I also gained additional experience through work in a variety of educational settings. After recovery from a major illness, I was thankful and proud to complete my Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2019 and to launch Uplifting Melodies Tutoring, LLC in 2021.
